Hope is what we crave And that will never change.
Isn’t that the truth?
Hope is beautiful and passionate.
It’s seductive and empowering.
It creates courage and perseverance.
It’s the thing that fuels us.
No outcome is ever certain. If we put in the time and effort, positive results are likely but never guaranteed. That line from the for King and Country song above is a statement true of all of us. We love looking towards the future and doing so with even a glimmer of hope changes the way we interact with the rest of the world.
The crushing truth of that is that the things we hope for will all let us down at some point. All of them. At least the things we hope in horizontally, as Tripp puts it. Our only real and true option to hope for something that won’t let us down is found vertically, in Jesus. I believe that we all have this wired inside of us. The longing for something more.
“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” - C.S. Lewis Mere Christianity
This hope inspires us towards a new way of living. Inviting us to indulge that hope with a life that leans on it being true.
